Trout Stream Exhibit

The Northwest Stream Center’s Trout Stream Exhibit is major attraction made possible thanks to contributions from the Tulalip Tribes, our members, and 53 partners primarily from the construction industry.

The stream’s source of water is a large pond that the Adopt A Stream Foundation excavated from a parking lot that had been constructed over a wetland. Fish in this 160-foot long stream are resident cut-throat trout. They feed on aquatic insects that reside in the stream naturally.

From two large viewing windows along the entry trail, you will see not only trout, but crayfish on the move, freshwater sculpin lurking in the rocks, and large freshwater mussels that will be at work filtering the flowing water.

While we are working to complete the exhibit, it is being used for special events like our Junior Streamkeeper classes for elementary students who are always thrilled by what they can see in the newest trout stream in the State of Washington!

Current needs:

  • A well /pump to import cool ground water into the stream
  • exterior lighting along the Entry Trail next to the stream
  • Underwater lighting for “after dark” viewing.
