The Adopt-A-Stream Foundation relies upon volunteer
support in the office and in the field. Volunteers help
us to continue our mission of teaching people to become
stewards of their watersheds. Please note that these
positions are unpaid.
CURRENT OPENINGS
Environmental Education
Conference/Workshop
Promotion & Reception
"Meet
and Greet" conference/workshop participants, sell
and take tickets to events at the door,sell Streamkeeper
merchandise during events. Assist in the develpment and
distribution of Streamkeeper Academy publicity
promotional materials.
General Office
Volunteer Coordinator
Coordinates
with AASF staff needs, and manages the schedules of
volunteers. Must have good public relations skills and an
excellent ability to manage schedules. Should be computer
savvy and have the ability to learn "Now Up To Date:
Now Contact" software.
Office
Assistant I
Work
with Office Managerand Environmental Education
Coordinator on outreach projects to schools, Preferably
have experience working with public, doing research, good
communication skills, including writing, organized. 4-6
hours per week. Days are flexible.
Membership
Enhancement
Help
us increase our membership support and follow through
with our current members. This is a great opportunity for
those business-oriented students/individuals wanting to
help make a difference. Invite members to upcoming
events, advise members of new Streamcenter features, hold
"mailing parties".
Computer
Troubleshooter
Provide
support for MacIntosh users on an on-call basis.
Fund
Raisers
Plan
and prepare fund raising events,e.g. breakfasts, dinners,
auctions, rummage sales, musical concerst, "fun
runs" et.
Web
Site Manager
Responsible
for expanding/improving and maintaining Streamkeeper web
site using Microsoft Front Page, and providing web site
management training to AASF staff. Requirements: Must
have experience in designing and maintaining web sites.
Ability to teach others how to manage web sites, and be
available to provide on-going technical assistance.
Habitat
Restoration and Maintenance
Seasonal
Projects
These are seasonal opportunities
including plantings, culvert analysis, and monitoring
former restoration sites. Also, there is a possibility of
setting up monitoring sites along North Creek and
throughout the wetland. Great for students doing semester
projects.
FISH
& WILDLIFE TEAM
Fish
& Wildlife Biologist(s)
Duties: Identify
(key out) wildlife species that inhabit the Northwest
Stream Center. Draftinterpretive information regarding
wildlife habitat, assist in designing locations of a
proposed raised boardwalk interpretive trail, and the
preparation of permits for fish and wildlife habitat
restoration projects.
Knowledge/Experience:
Ideal candidate(s) have a degree in fisheries, zoology,
or natural resources, with experience establishing a
scientific information study. Must have good writing
skills and be computer savvy with experience in microsoft
Office and database management software.
Fish
& Wildlife Habitat Restoration Assistant
Duties: Assist AASF
Fish and Wildlife Division personnel during construction
of fish and wildlife habitat restoration projects. Work
may involve a variety of tasks including but not limited
to: moving large woody debris (logs & stumps),
cutting brush, planting vegetation, and moving gravel.
Will work under the supervision of an AASF staff member.
Knowledge/Experience:
Must be physically fit and capable of lifting 40 pounds.
Should be experienced with a variety of hand tools.
Doorknockers
Needed
AASF is looking for volunteers to go
door to door along North Creek and Swamp Creek to notify
property owners that AASF crews will be on their property
for a short period of time to conduct a culvert analysis.
Native
Plant Landscaper(s)
Maintain native vegetation planted
at the Northwest Stream Center. Manual labor involves
weeding, watering, and transplanting native vegetation.
Ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic gardener with
basic knowledge of native plant ecology, and a
"green thumb".
Native
Plant Salvage Technician(s)
Excavate native plants from
construction sites and prepare plants for transport to
the NW Stream Center Native Plant Salvage Site. Must be
physically fit with shovel and wheel barrel experience:
access to pick-up truck is desirable.
Maintenance
Assist
with routine maintenance, minor repairs,including
vacuuming, dusting, washing windows, cleaning restrooms,
watering plants, outdoor weeding and sweeping. 2-4 hours
per week. Days are flexible.
