PROFILE
The Adopt-A-Stream Foundation Habitat Restoration Crew was created to address challenges facing stream and wetland ecosystems in the field. Drawing upon the expertise of its members, the team has completed many successful stream and wetland restoration projects. The team is funded by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources Jobs for the Environment (JFE) program. JFE provides funding for organizations to hire and train dislocated forest and fisheries workers.

The Habitat Restoration Crew works on both small and large stream enhancement projects primarily in Snohomish County, including culvert repair or replacement, streambank stabilization utilizing bioengineering methods, instream placement of fish habitat structures, like fish ladders and large woody debris (LWD), stream channel reconfiguration. In addition, the team also conducts stream typing, habitat assessments, and environmental consulting.

The crew works collaboratively with several government agencies, local jurisdictions, non-profit environmental and community organizations, as well as private landowners to improve habitat. These include the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Department of Transportation, Snohomish County, King County, Stilly-Snohomish Fisheries Enhancement Taskforce, and the Center for Career Alternatives.
