PROFILE
The Adopt-A-Stream Foundation Fish & Wildlife Division was created to address degraded stream and wetland ecosystems. Drawing upon the expertise of its members, the team has surveyed multiple watersheds and successfully identified areas of erosion, fish passage barriers, and pollution sources, and other problem areas. The crew has rectified many of the issued found by successfully completing stream and wetland restoration projects.

Habitat restoration projects have included culvert repair and replacement, streambank stabilization utilizing bioengineering methods, in-stream placement of fish habitat structures, like fish ladders and large woody debris (LWD), and stream channel reconfiguration.

Our effort to improve habitat requires many partners, including several government agencies, local jurisdictions, non-profit environmental and community organizations, as well as private landowners. To-date, we have worked extensively with the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Department of Transportation, Snohomish County, King County, Island County, Stilly-Snohomish Fisheries Enhancement Taskforce, and the Snohomish County Conservation District.

Many of our projects are grant funded, including monies from the Washington Department of Ecology and the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation. Currently, we are actively surveying the North Creek watershed in Snohomish County, McAleer and Lyon Creeks in King County, and Quilceda and Allen Creeks in Snohomish County.

In addition to grant funding, our services are also available for contract. Most recently, we assisted with a large woody debris placement project for the City of Bellevue.
