Adopt-A-Stream Foundation's
Streamkeeper Academy Presents
Rediscovery / As If the Earth
Matters
An
Environmental Educators Institute
TWO
CLASS DATES: May 14-15, 2009 OR July 29-30, 2009

The Rediscovery Environmental
Educators Institute with Thom Henley offers educators a
rare opportunity to fully immerse themselves in
experiential learning skills, to develop keener insights
into cross-cultural understanding and to discover new
ways to bring environmental concepts and lessons into the
classroom. Thom will draw from his extensive travel
experiences and 30 years of working with youth on
Rediscovery programs (www.rediscovery.org) to provide an indoor/outdoor workshop that
is both insightful and stimulating.
Combining fun with learning, participants will explore:
Skills for bonding a group and overcoming initial
shyness.
The history and theory behind outdoor experiential
education.
The seven basic concepts of ecology and group
activities that demonstrate each.
Energy burner activities to prepare hyperactive
groups for more formal studies.
Acclimatization exercises that help us all connect
intimately, in heart-felt ways, with the natural world.
Activities that expand our level of cross-cultural
awareness and sensitivity for working in multi-cultural
classrooms.
Thom Henley has formally lectured and conducted
Rediscovery Workshops in 26 countries. Recently, he has
been contracted to conduct these events in Tokyo,
Bangkok, Pattaya, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta. This training
event in Washington State promises to be an unforgettable
and inspiration experience for all who take part!
